Panini Pua Kea LIVE

Panini Pua Kea LIVE: played on the Hawaiian ukulele, acoustic guitar and electric bass.

Enjoy two different audio-visual samples here on this page:

1) Try this Panini Pua Kea mp3 audio clip of Josh and Jorge jamming live on Sirius Satellite Radio.

2) Below we have a live video clip featuring this great song, whose title: Panini Puakea translates to "White Cactus Flower". If you're familiar with the song Love Is A Rose by Neil Young, you'll know the meaning: "Love is a rose, but you better not pick it, it only grows when it's on the vine...."

We perform this song with great inspiration from the Great Brudda Iz--you may know him as "Da Big Guy" -- whose version showcases great vocals and lyrics with lots of ukulele improvisation thrown in for good measure.

I'm also very fond of the version that's performed by Hui Aloha, featuring Rev. Dennis Kamakahi on vocals and slack key guitars.

This video was filmed at a recent live stage event in beautiful Glen Cove, NY, as part of the Long Island Sounds Festival. Josh and the band performed a variety of songs ranging from classic Hawaiian to Elvis and even jammed on a few original songs.

The band line-up is: Josh Cho, vocals, ukulele and Hawaiian lap steel guitars; Jorge Mesa, bass; John Chang, acoustic-electric guitar.
