Venetian Yacht Club

On location: The Venetian Yacht Club, Babylon, NY.

Although I'm primarily known as the NY Ukulele Singer, many times I will perform classical guitar pieces in addition to ukulele selections.

As much as I love strumming and plucking out tunes on the ukulele, my classical training gets puts to some much-deserved use for the weddings like this one, which called for pure classical guitar music program.

The selections I performed at this mid-October wedding included every one of my most requested classical pieces: the Bridal Chorus, Wedding March, Canon in D and Bach's Air On G for Classical Guitar.

The classy music program perfectly matched the setting provided by the Venetian Yacht Club, situated right on the very edge of the Long Island's south shore. Wedding guests were treated to wide views overlooking the water just as the sun began making its descent below the horizon.

This particular celebration was blessed with crisp Autumn weather and clear skies, which is fairly common this time of year--some might say that the best weather is enjoyed during this time of year.

My Equipment Setup

My classical guitar setup is exactly what use for the amplified ukulele performances--I'm currently using the Bose L1 Compact "portable line array" system you see in the photos below and also the Roland BA-330 stereo speakers.

I use an amplified nylon string classical guitar in conjunction with the sound system so that crowds from 20 to 150 or more can hear all the music. The same goes for the ukulele--without amplification, only a small handful of people will be able to hear the music, which is fine of intimate weddings--but not the kind that will usually be found at the Venetian.

As you can see in the pictures accompanying this story, the total space needed for this setup is roughly a 6 foot by 6 foot square. All I require for this setup is one 3-prong AC power outlet, which I attach to my extension cord circuit breaker box.
